Filter repeater results

Recommended Posts

Hey

I'm stuck with a issue how to filter repeater results depending on content. I have a few Option fields where you can select "yes", "no" or then leave it blank "". I got my loop working and I'm able to skip content that has not been set. Now I just need a filter for the loop.

<? foreach($pages->get("/content/")->children as $c): ?>
    <div>
        <p>
            <?php if($c->titles) echo $c->titles; ?>
        </p>
    </div>
<? endforeach;?>

I was able to make a if-statement which checked

if($c->Selector=="no"):

but as it was in the loop, it kinda bugged out. Never got it working either outside the loop...

One really hacky way I thought about was using CSS Classes to set classnames, and that way split what is shown and what is not. This is a really bad way as it still loads all the content for each Selector value.

What I'm looking for is eg. a filter that every Selector with value "yes" will be looped, others dismissed.

Any ideas how to work on with this?

Hi Olli and welcome!

Sorry, I don't understand the question. Is "titles" your repeater field? What do you want to filter? Can you give an example and your structure?

Cheers

I edited my post 1 minute before you posted yours Wanze, but I'll give a in-depth explanation.

A loop, or repeater are pages which are repeated according to template and content is according to what is set in the admin section. I simplified my case as if a result is found, I can implement it in a slightly more complex system. I got a Option field to template which gives the values "yes", "no" and "". I would need to find a way to filter the result in the loop.

Lets say I just want the results with value "yes". Then the loop would just show the pages with the value "yes" in the option field.

Another option would be to separate the pages in different child pages, but then again that makes working with it not-so-userfriendly. A filter to either loop throught all contents with "yes" or "no" in field value is what I'm looking for.

To clarify the facts. It seems you're not actually using a repeater, which is a special field in processwire, but you want to filter the pages you're looping over. Is that impression right? In each case you should take a look at the selector docs, which will enable you to filter both repeater field values as well as other lists of pages, like in your loop: http://processwire.com/api/selectors/.

      This is a module I made as an experiment a while ago and never got around to releasing publicly. At the time it was prompted by discussions around using Repeater fields for "page builder" purposes, where the depth feature could possibly be used for elements that would be nested inside other elements. I thought it would be useful to enforce some depth rules and translate the depth data into a multi-dimensional array structure.
      I'm not using this module anywhere myself but maybe it's useful to somebody.
      Repeater Depth Helper
      This module does two things relating to Repeater fields that have the "Item depth" option enabled:
      It enforces some depth rules for Repeater fields on save. Those rules are:
      The first item must have a depth of zero. Each item depth must not be more than one greater than previous item depth. It provides a RepeaterPageArray::getDepthStructure helper method that returns a nested depth structure for a Repeater field value.
      Helper method
      The module adds a RepeaterPageArray::getDepthStructure method that returns a multi-dimensional array where the key is the page ID and the value is an array of nested "child" items, or null if there are no nested children.
      Example

      The module doesn't make any assumptions about how you might want to use the depth structure array, but here is a way you might use it to output a nested unordered list.
      // Output a nested unordered list from a depth structure array function outputNestedList($depth_structure, $repeater_items) { $out = "<ul>"; foreach($depth_structure as $page_id => $nested_children) { $out .= "<li>" . $repeater_items->get("id=$page_id")->title; // Go recursive if there are nested children if(is_array($nested_children)) $out .= outputNestedList($nested_children, $repeater_items); $out .= "</li>"; } $out .= "</ul>"; return $out; } $repeater_items = $page->my_repeater; $depth_structure = $repeater_items->getDepthStructure(); echo outputNestedList($depth_structure, $repeater_items);

      Hi 👋
      Anyone else having this problem?
      Requirements:
      - Repeater (matrix & normal) with mutlilanguage fields (text, textarea…)
      - Backend language set to something other than default (ie. German)
      Reproduce:
      - Add a new repeater Item (ajax, I found no way to possible to disable it with matrix)

      (Notice how the default language tab is active instead of the backend language…)
      - Write something into the (default language) field
      - Try to save, if field is required, this will not work. If not required, then when reloading, the content will be inside the backend language field, instead of the default language field who was (presumably) active
      Analysis:
      When  loading  a new repeater element with ajax, the default langue tab is active, but the backend language inputfield is visible (with no visual indication). When writing into the field, it will populate the backend language. When manually clicking on the default language tab (which is already active), the field will switch to the actual default language field (which is [now] empty) (that can now be populated…)
      Also Notice, the labels of the elements to be added are in default language as well instead of the translated label (images instead of Bilder)…
      ProcessWire 3.0.148, Profields 0.0.5…
      Is it my system configuration, or does anyone else have the same issue? This is a screen recording of the problem:

      I have a front end form for creating new pages, repeater and repeater matrix field don't seem to save any data. I was considering handling the data manually but can't seem to get anything useful from the post data, are there any methods i can use?

      Hi there,
      I have a bit of trouble on filtering correctly some event pages by some selectors...
      I do have the following 2 date fields:
      - start date (fieldname = date)
      - end date (fieldname = enddate)

      Some events are a single day event (only start date) - some are a multi day event (end date).
      Past single day events should not show up.
      Current multi day events should show up (even if start day is in the past, but end date is future).
      So I have the following selector:
      if ($standort == '') { $termine = $page->children("sort=date, limit=10, (date>=today, enddate=''), (enddate>=today)"); } else { $termine = $page->children( "(standort_reference~=$standort), (standort_alle=1), (date>=today, enddate=''), (enddate>=today), sort=date, limit=10"); } This selector
      $termine = $page->children("sort=date, limit=10, (date>=today, enddate=''), (enddate>=today)"); works fine, but the follwing does not work (all past entries are also shown):
      $termine = $page->children( "(standort_reference~=$standort), (standort_alle=1), (date>=today, enddate=''), (enddate>=today), sort=date, limit=10"); I have no clue what I'm missing - any ideas?

      Hi, trying to order pages by modified date, date. I can do 'sort=-date_modified, sort=-date' but that will always put the modified date first regardless of actual date order. I just want to coalesce the two fields and sort. Any ideas would be appreciated.
