Filter repeater results

Recommended Posts

Hey

I'm stuck with a issue how to filter repeater results depending on content. I have a few Option fields where you can select "yes", "no" or then leave it blank "". I got my loop working and I'm able to skip content that has not been set. Now I just need a filter for the loop.

<? foreach($pages->get("/content/")->children as $c): ?>
    <div>
        <p>
            <?php if($c->titles) echo $c->titles; ?>
        </p>
    </div>
<? endforeach;?>

I was able to make a if-statement which checked

if($c->Selector=="no"):

but as it was in the loop, it kinda bugged out. Never got it working either outside the loop...

One really hacky way I thought about was using CSS Classes to set classnames, and that way split what is shown and what is not. This is a really bad way as it still loads all the content for each Selector value.

What I'm looking for is eg. a filter that every Selector with value "yes" will be looped, others dismissed.

Any ideas how to work on with this?

Hi Olli and welcome!

Sorry, I don't understand the question. Is "titles" your repeater field? What do you want to filter? Can you give an example and your structure?

Cheers

I edited my post 1 minute before you posted yours Wanze, but I'll give a in-depth explanation.

A loop, or repeater are pages which are repeated according to template and content is according to what is set in the admin section. I simplified my case as if a result is found, I can implement it in a slightly more complex system. I got a Option field to template which gives the values "yes", "no" and "". I would need to find a way to filter the result in the loop.

Lets say I just want the results with value "yes". Then the loop would just show the pages with the value "yes" in the option field.

Another option would be to separate the pages in different child pages, but then again that makes working with it not-so-userfriendly. A filter to either loop throught all contents with "yes" or "no" in field value is what I'm looking for.

To clarify the facts. It seems you're not actually using a repeater, which is a special field in processwire, but you want to filter the pages you're looping over. Is that impression right? In each case you should take a look at the selector docs, which will enable you to filter both repeater field values as well as other lists of pages, like in your loop: http://processwire.com/api/selectors/.

      I want to add a few pages to an AsmSelect Page field inside a repeater using the following code:
      $trialsPage = wire("pages")->get(28422); // Get the page $trialsPage->of(false); $newTrial = $ordersPage->trial_repeater_orders->getNewItem(); // Add item to repeater foreach ($selectedProducts as $selectedProduct){ $productPage = $pages->get("template=product, reference=$selectedProduct"); $newTrial->trial_selected_products->add($productPage); } $newTrial->save(); $trialsPage->save(); However, when I check the page where the field is located it doesn't have the new values as expected. The selected pages exist, the field is in the right location, made sure that the output formatting is turned off: $page->of(false); But it still doesn't work with a variable. No matter what I try, it doesn't work.
      It only works when I replace $selectedProduct with a hardcoded string. Am I doing something wrong here?

      Thanks to the great Pro module "RepeaterMatrix" I have the possibility to create complex repeater items. With it I have created a quite powerful page builder. Many different content modules, with many more possible design options. The RepeaterMatrix module supports the cloning of items, but only within the same page. Now I often have the case that very design-intensive pages and items are created. If you want to use this module on a different page (e.g. in the same design), you have to rebuild each item manually every time.
      With this proof of concept I have created a module which adds the feature to copy a repeater item to the clipboard so that you can paste this item to another page with the same repeater field. The module has been developed very rudimentarily so far. It is currently not possible to copy nested items. There is also no check of Min/Max. You can also only copy items that have the same field on different pages. And surely you can solve all this more elegantly with AJAX. But personally I lack the deeper understanding of the repeaters. Also missing on the Javascript side are event triggers for the repeaters, which would make it easier. Like e.g. RepeaterItemInitReady or similar.
      it would be great if @ryan would implement this functionality in the core of RepeaterMatrix. I think he has better ways to implement this. Or what do you think, Ryan?
      Everybody is welcome to work on this module and improve it, if it should not be integrated into the matrix core. Therefore I put it for testing and as download on GitHub: https://github.com/FlipZoomMedia/InputfieldRepeaterMatrixDublicate
      You can best see the functionality in the screencast:

      Hi,
      For the purpose of learning, as shown in this photo, I created a repeater field "we", then a template, then a page.
      But in /templates/testrepeater.php, I has some problem, the "foreach" part does not work as expected.
      <html> <body> <?php echo "<h1>$page->title</h1><br>"; ?> <? foreach($page->we as $member); ?> <img src="<?php echo $member->images->url; ?>" alt=""> <?php echo $member->wemember; ?><br> <? endforeach;?> </body> </html> Could anybody please help point out my error?
      Thanks in advance.

      The Page Hit Counter module for ProcessWire implements a simple page view counter in backend. Page views of visitors are automatically tracked on defined templates, with monitoring of multiple page views. This gives you a quick overview of how many visitors have read a news or a blog post, for example, without first having to open complex tools such as Google Analytics. This module quickly provides simple information, e.g. for editors. Or, for example, to sort certain news by most page views. For example for "Trending Topics".

      Works with ProCache and AdBlockers. With a lightweight tracking code of only ~320 bytes (gzipped). And no code changes necessary! In addition GDPR compliant, since no personal data or IP addresses are stored. Only session cookies are stored without information.
      In addition, there are some options, for example filtering IP addresses (for CronJobs) and filtering bots, spiders and crawlers. You can also configure the lifetime of the session cookies. Repeated page views are not counted during this period. It is also possible to exclude certain roles from tracking. For example, logged in editors who work on a page are not counted as page views.

      Sort by hits and access page views (hit value)
      Each trackable template has an additional field called phits. For example, you want to output all news sorted by the number of page views.
      // It is assumed that the template, e.g. with the name "news", has been configured for tracking. $news = $pages->find("template=news, sort=-phits"); To output the page views of a tracked page, use:
      echo $page->phits; Example: Tracking a page hit via API and jQuery
      If you want to track a template that does not represent a full page to automatically inject a tracking script, you can define allowed API templates in the module that you can track. Below is an example of how you can track a click on news tag using jQuery. This will allow you to find out which keywords are clicked the most. For example, you can sort and display a tag cloud by the number of hits. Suppose your keywords have the template "news_tag". The template "news_tag" was also configured in the Page Hit Counter Module as a trackable API template.
      Example PHP output of keywords / tags:
      // Required: the data attribute "data-pid" with the ID of the template to be tracked. echo $pages->find("template=news_tag, sort=-phits")->each("<a href='{url}' class='news_tag' data-pid='{id}'>{title}</a>"); Example Tracking Script with jQuery:
      /** * Required: Data attribute "data-pid" with the ID of the news tag template * Required: Send the POST request to the URL "location.pathname.replace(/\/?$/, '/') + 'phcv1'" * Required: The POST parameter "pid" with the ID of the template */ $(function(){ if($('a.news_tag').length > 0) { $('a.news_tag').each(function(){ var tPID = $(this).data("pid"); if(tPID) { $(this).on("click", function(){ $.post(location.pathname.replace(/\/?$/, '/') + 'phcv1', {pid: tPID}); }); } }); } }); So simply every click on a tag is counted. Including all checks as for automatic tracking. Like Bot Filtering, Session Lifetime, etc.
      _______________________________________________________
      Background: This module is the result of a customer requirement, where the editors are overwhelmed with analytics or no tracking tools were allowed to be used. However, a way had to be found to at least count page views in a simple form for evaluations. Furthermore, by using ProCache, a way had to be found to count views of a page without clearing the cache.
      _______________________________________________________
      Pros
      Automatic Page View Tracking Lightweight tracking code, only ~320 bytes (gzipped) No code or frontend changes necessary Works with ProCache! Even if no PHP is executed on the cached page, the tracking works Works with browser AdBlockers No cache triggers (for example, ProCache) are triggered. The cache remains persistent GDPR compliant, session-based cookie only, no personal information Filtering of IPs and bots possible Exclude certain roles from tracking Ability to reset Page Views Works with all admin themes Counter database is created as write-optimized InnoDB API to track events for templates that are not viewable No dependencies on libraries, pure VanillaJS (Automatic tracking script) Works in all modern browsers Pages are sortable by hits Cons
      Only for ProcessWire version 3.0.80 or higher (Requires wireCount()) Only for PHP version 5.6.x or higher No support for Internet Explorer <= version 9 (Because of XMLHttpRequest()) No historical data, just simple summation (Because of GDPR) Planned Features / ToDos
      API access to hit values Since version 1.2.1 Possibility to sort the pages by hits (Request by @Zeka) Since version 1.2.0 Don't track logged in users with certain roles (Request by @wbmnfktr) Since version 1.1.0 Possibility to reset the counter for certain pages or templates (Request by @wbmnfktr) Since version 1.1.0 Better bot filter Since version 1.1.0 Disable session lifetime, don't store cookies to track every page view (Request by @matjazp) Since version 1.2.1 Option to hide the counter in the page tree (Request by @matjazp) Since version 1.2.1 Option to hide the counter in the page tree on certain templates Since version 1.2.1 API to track events for templates that are not viewable Since version 1.2.2 Changelog

      New feature: Exclude tracking of certain roles New feature: Reset Page Views Better bot filter and detection 1.0.0
      Initial release Notes
      By default, the page views are stored as INT in the database. This allows a maximum counter value of 4.2 billion views (4,294,967,295) per page. If you need more, change the type to BIGINT directly in the database. But I recommend to use Google Analytics or similar tools if you have such a large number of users.

      Hi All,
      I've made a previous regarding an issue which I solved but I stumbled across a new issue :). Below again the explanation needed.
      You need a short introduction for this. The company I am working for has approx. 80 products on their website and they all have their own features. The features are imported from an older system which isn't used anymore. Back then, when they changed from the old system to PW, we imported the features into the product pages as a JSON-array so the pages could load a bit faster as exploding a JSON array is a bit faster than loading in a lot of items from a table or a repeater field.
      How the JSON array looks like:
      {     "2": {  // The ID of the group that contains the actual features         "name": "Model and function", // The name of the group         "features": {             "43": { // Attribute ID                 "name": "Resolution (DPI)", // Attribute name                 "values": {                     "896": "500-1500-2000-3500" // Value ID and value name                 }             }         }     } } Now we are adding a few more products to the catalog with new features and some that are already in use by other products but I am really struggling to assign the right ID's with the correct values in 7 different languages without messing up filters etc. So I decided to develop a module that lets you easily add feature groups, attributes and values as pages and connect these to the product using a repeater. This started by exporting all the current groups, attributes and values and import them as pages in the following structure:
      - Features - Feature Groups - Group 1 - Group 2 - ... - Feature Attributes - Attribute 1 - Attribute 2 - ... - Feature Values - Value 1 - Value 2 - ... Secondly, I created a repeater field that I assigned to the 'Features'-page that can handle the JSON structure explained above by seeing each item of the repeater field as a group. Inside each item you can select the group page and you will find another repeater which contains 2 page selectors to select an attribute and a value. A single repeater field looks like this:

      Next step was to create a module that gets this field as an Inputfield from the Features page. Once the user has finished adding groups, attributes and values he can click on save and I export all the values in the same JSON array structure as earlier but now the ID's of the groups, attributes and values are just the page ID's. This works great to add new features to new products.
      BUT, sometimes the features of a product change or need to be changed and you don't want to change the JSON array manually.
      So my idea was to do the same thing as adding the features, but now you grab the values from the product first and populate the items of the repeater field.
      $featuresPage = wire("pages")->get("template=features"); $featureGroups = json_decode($product->features, true); foreach ($featureGroups as $featureGroupID => $featureGroup){ $row = $featuresPage->features_repeater->getNewItem(); $groupPage = wire("pages")->get($featureGroupID); $row->feature_group_selector = $groupPage; $row->save(); foreach ($featureGroup["features"] as $featureID => $feature){ $featuresRow = $row->feature_repeater->getNewItem(); $attributePage = wire("pages")->get($featureID); $valuePage = wire("pages")->get(key($feature['values'])); $featuresRow->feature_attribute_selector = $attributePage; $featuresRow->feature_value_selector = $valuePage; $featuresRow->save(); } $row->save(); } $featuresPage->save(); $f = wire('fields')->get('features_repeater'); $inputfield = $f->getInputfield($featuresPage); $form->add($inputfield); $f = $this->modules->get("InputfieldSubmit"); $f->name = 'updateFeatures'; $f->label = 'Update Features'; $f->icon = 'plus'; $f->value = 'Update Features'; $form->add($f); Then the user can change / add features, click save and done!
      It is possible to update the feature attributes and values, but when I change the feature group value, it seems like PW creates a new field behind the scenes and keeps the old value as well. So let's say I have the following feature structure:
      - Feature Group 1 - Feature attribute 1 - Feature value 1 Now I want to update Feature Group 1 to Feature Group 2, below is the desired result and the actual result:
      // === Desired result - Feature Group 2 - Feature attribute 1 - Feature value 1 // === Actual result - Feature Group 2 - Feature attribute 1 - Feature value 1 - Feature Group 1 - Feature attribute 1 - Feature value 1
      I am using the following function to update the features:
      private function processForm5_UpdateFeatures(InputfieldForm $form){ $form->processInput($this->input->post); if (count($form->getErrors())) return false; $pageID = $this->session->selectedProduct; $product = wire('pages')->get($pageID); $product->of(false); $repeater = $form->get("features_repeater")->value; $languages = wire("languages"); foreach ($languages as $language) { $return_array = []; $i = 0; foreach ($repeater as $repeaterItem) { //$this->message($repeaterItem); $group = $repeaterItem->feature_group_selector; if ($group["id"] == 0) { continue; } else { $group = wire("pages")->get($group["id"]); $feature_group_name = &$return_array[$group->id]['name']; if (!isset($feature_group_name)) $feature_group_name = $group->title->getLanguageValue($language); $features = $repeaterItem->feature_repeater; foreach ($features as $feature) { $this->message($feature); $attribute = $feature->feature_attribute_selector; $value = $feature->feature_value_selector; if ($attribute["id"] == 0 || $value["id"] == 0) { continue; } else { $attribute = wire("pages")->get($attribute["id"]); $value = wire("pages")->get($value["id"]); $return_array[$group->id]['features'][$attribute->id]['name'] = $attribute->title->getLanguageValue($language); $return_array[$group->id]['features'][$attribute->id]['values'][$value->id] = $value->title->getLanguageValue($language); } } } } $product->features->setLanguageValue($language->name, json_encode($return_array, JSON_UNESCAPED_UNICODE)); } $product->save(); $featuresPage = wire("pages")->get("template=features"); $featuresPage->features_repeater->removeAll(); $featuresPage->save(); /* $this->messages("clear all"); $this->errors("clear all");*/ $this->message("Updated all features for {$product->title}"); $this->session->redirect("../"); } Is there a way to avoid the current result and get the desired result? Why is there even a new repeater page created for the new value? Anything that can help me is greatly appreciated!
