  1. I am a complete newbie in PW with some HTML and CSS understanding and poor PHP skills. I am currently studying PW sample site that comes along with default installation of PW. I opened up every PHP files in there to check at the code, and I just found this to most of them.. <?php /** * Home template * */ include("./head.inc"); echo $page->body; include("./foot.inc"); how did they apply the styles from the css files when it has only these codes?
  2. I'm undecided whether I'm going to use modx or processwire as my CMS on my first ever project, it's a small business website about a scrap recycling company. MODX is nice it gives the same creative freedom as PW but it has 551 modules/plugins which they call extras, and that could help me add features on my site without coding. I haven't found the total numbers of modules in PW yet after search on google and the main website. Are the modules here in PW enough so that I could add cool features on my site? Or MODX still has the advantage when It comes to modules/extras? I like the simpler workflow and back end of PW that's why I'm considering PW and also because of the quick replies I get from the community and they are friendlier.
  3. I am a complete noob in PW and have zero knowledge on how to use bootstrap. Just installed a fresh installation of PW with pwbootstrap3 site profile. GF's dad ask me to make a website on their new company. Pretty basic business website. Tried Wordpress and can't figure out how to make my own themes as GF's dad told me a specific design layout of the front end which is freakin hard to do in WP for a noob like me. Using a theme with bit of css modification in WP makes me feel highly unsatisfied still with the results. Had to finish the site for atleast in 2 months time. Where can I find a complete tutorial step by step guide on how to make a website using just PW or with pwboostrap3 site profile? So I can make the website quick. Preferably, the type of tutorial that will just shove the steps straight on my mouth. GF's dad look up to me like a PRO I.T. Highly Extremely Pressured.
  4. Hi guys, i've been trying to fix an issue all day and can't figure it out! i have a php page that calls another php page through AJAX. The problem is that the session variables i set in the page i call through AJAX don't stick when i go back to the calling page. I believe it may be because of the way i'm calling the page url with AJAX, which could be what makes another session once it gets to the AJAX page url:"<?php echo $config->urls->templates?>logincode.php/", the session ID's are completely different on both pages and the name of the session from the calling page is 'wire'. The name of the session on the AJAX page is called 'PHPSESSID'. So the sessions are not the same, which is why the session variables set in the AJAX page aren't available in the calling page when the AJAX page is returned to the calling page. i've tried renaming the ProcessWire session name in the config file to 'PHPSESSID', although that didn't work. When i go to the page 'logincode/' as a regular post from a form it works perfectly and has the same session ID and variables, although through AJAX the sessions on both pages are completely different. Does anyone know how to do this properly and make the session the same? Please help, it's driving me mad! see the AJAX calling code below: $.ajax({ type : 'POST', xhrFields: {withCredentials: true}, data : {'username':username, 'password':password}, url:"<?php echo $config->urls->templates?>logincode.php/", success:function(result){ if(result == "1"){ alert('Please input username and password'); } }, error:function(xhr, status, error) { alert('error'); } });
  5. Hello guys I'm new here! I've been working on this website that I've made with Foundation. I wanted to put a CMS in it so now i'm here! On my localhost the website works perfect. I've adjusted the Processwire CMS to my wishes and with /login I and other users would be able to change the texts on the website. So I thought I was ready to put it live. I exported the MySQL files. Created a new db. Imported everything. And via an FTP client uploaded all the files. The homepage works fine. But now whenever I want to login using /login which I changed /processwire to I get a 404 error: Not FoundThe requested URL /login was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. What am I doing wrong here? I've checked a lot of messages on this forum about the .htaccess file but I haven't got it to work yet and need help from more experienced PW users:) This is my website: http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301] # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Access Restrictions: Protect ProcessWire system files # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Block access to any htaccess files RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)\.htaccess$ [NC,OR] # Block access to protected assets directories RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/assets/(cache|logs|backups|sessions|config|install|tmp)($|/.*$) [OR] # Block acceess to the /site/install/ directory RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/install($|/.*$) [OR] # Block dirs in /site/assets/ dirs that start with a hyphen RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/assets.*/-.+/.* [OR] # Block access to /wire/config.php, /site/config.php, /site/config-dev.php, and /wire/index.config.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(wire|site|site-[^/]+)/(config|index\.config|config-dev)\.php$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP-based files in /templates-admin/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(wire|site|site-[^/]+)/templates-admin($|/|/.*\.(php|html?|tpl|inc))$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP or markup files in /site/templates/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/templates($|/|/.*\.(php|html?|tpl|inc))$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP files in /site/assets/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/assets($|/|/.*\.php)$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP files in core or core module directories RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)wire/(core|modules)/.*\.(php|inc|tpl|module)$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP files in /site/modules/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/modules/.*\.(php|inc|tpl|module)$ [OR] # Block access to any software identifying txt files RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(COPYRIGHT|INSTALL|README|htaccess)\.(txt|md)$ [OR] # Block all http access to the default/uninstalled site-default directory RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)site-default/ # If any conditions above match, isssue a 403 forbidden RewriteRule ^.*$ - [F,L] # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Ensure that the URL follows the name-format specification required by ProcessWire # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} "^/~?[-_.a-zA-Z0-9/]*$" # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # If the request is for a file or directory that physically exists on the server, # then don't give control to ProcessWire, and instead load the file # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !(favicon\.ico|robots\.txt) # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # OPTIONAL: Prevent ProcessWire from attempting to serve images or anything in /site/assets/. # Both of these lines are optional, but can help to reduce server load. 6. I just finished this article and wanted to post it here as I'd love to get some feedback from you guys in the comments of the article explaining why you work with ProcessWire. There's a great chance here to help spread the word a bit more for this awesome CMS we all love. If you have five minutes, please share your thoughts in the article comments. I'd appreciate it. ProcessWire vs WordPress
  7. Hello, I'm doing an API and I need that receives params via POST, I'm using Postman extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/postman-rest-client/fdmmgilgnpjigdojojpjoooidkmcomcm) for testing purposes and I am not recieving the vars, but I do a curl curl --data "var1=123&var2=asdf" http://mywebsite/function I got them right. On the access logs I got this 192.185.39.26 - - [08/May/2014:18:25:03 -0500] "POST http://mywebsite/function%C2'> 200 - "-" "-" Does Processwire have a security enabled for calls via post without headers? Thanks
  8. I am new to ProcessWire. I just came across it via searching for platforms. I am wanting to build a social site that users can register, activate account via email confirmation, and fill in profile. They will be basically be able to share photos and people can give them a like or dislike. Pretty simple principal but I don't have any clue how to even start that with ProcessWire if it's even possible. Any suggestions? I was going to build it using Symfony or CakePHP...something I know will work as a platform. Thanks in advance.

  10. Good Morning Everyone! As you know, we're a proud Processwire website that (thanks to this awesome CMS) hasn't looked back since moving from WordPress. We're so pleased, we're launching a couple of new sites also based on the same feel that Mr. Amazing (Ryan) developed. (For future reference, he shall now henceforth be referred to as Mr. Amazing whenever I write a post). I'm planning out the upcoming 2014 Critics' Choice CMS Awards and would love to hear some creative thoughts as to how to use Processwire (or some other method) to come up with a creative voting and nominations process. Last year, I used FormBuilder and made a simple form that people needed to submit and while it worked fine, I'm wondering if there's a better solution that might be a bit more engaging. I'd love to hear anyone's ideas / thoughts as to what options might be out there. Thanks in advance for your time! ~Mike (ps: processwire rocks)
  11. G'day everyone I'm new to ProcessWire - hoping someone could help me out?? I've installed ProcessWire in my root (public_html) directory & all is good - I really like this CMS. Very happy I stumbled across it! Thank you! This processwire site is accessible from my main domain (www.example.com) - No problem. However... I also own another domain name which I want to use for an entirely seperate website, but hosted on the same server account. Now, I've done this before with basic web pages with no hassles. But, with ProcessWire already installed - I'm having issues? In my cPanel admin area I create an Add-On Domain (www.secondwebsite.com). This creates a new folder in the root e.g. public_html/secondwebsite.com, and also creates the subdomain secondwebsite.example.com (which I'll deal with later). So, I place a Hello World index.html file within the new public_html/secondwebsite.com folder - This is to be the front page of my second website (entirely seperate from the ProcessWire site). When I type www.secondwebsite.com in my web browser, it is supposed to load that index.html file... Instead, I am greeted with a 403 Forbidden Error: Spewing. I did a bit of Googling to try and find a solution and found this thread which seems to have the answer, but I just can't figure out how to apply it to ProcessWire? I applied the fix they suggest in that thread by adding: To the start of the .htaccess file in my public_html folder. No luck. I tried placing it in different areas of the file, such as after the ReWriteEngine on line... Still no luck. Now, I've verified that it is the ProcessWire .htaccess file which is causing the issue, as I renamed the file, and I was instantly able to access my Add-On Domain from www.secondwebsite.com Could someone PLEASE help me out with this issue? I really don't have much experience with .htaccess files. If I can't resolve this it messes up my website plans for using ProcessWire Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. Nick
  12. I have been able to easily install processwire in the past locally and on servers, but I recently added Vagrant to my development process, and I can't seem to get processwire installed correctly. Everything is right as far as the required components for the install. I go through ans rename the site-default to site and htacess.txt to .htaccess. Then I chmod /site/assets and /site/config.php to 777. Everything passes the check correctly, and then I enter the database info etc. There are no errors here. Everything looks like it gets installed correctly, but when I log in I get the "This request was aborted because it appears to be forged." error. I have come across this error before, and know how to fix it normally. I have confirmed that the sessions, cache, logs, files folders were created. I have even tried to chmod the whole site to 777, but nothing has worked. I have set $config->protectCSRF to false, and it gets rid of the error; however, it doesn't actually log me into the site but it redirects me back to the processwire login page with no errors and the form fields cleared. Any ideas?
  13. Hello I am a new comer in processwire. I am not a dev but I am really impressed and I wish to take my chances with this fantastic cms/f with the minimal ui. 14. Hello, Just a little contribution (in french) about how (hard) configure processwire template files to integrate Google Authorship notions in Processwire. http://blog.itanea.fr/posts/configurer-processwire-pour-utiliser-la-notion-d-authorship-de-google/ See you,
  15. Hello everybody! I've actually created already a web that works perfectly with processwire. There only some dumb questions which I do not figure out by myself. This is one of them... I have a field called "contact" where obviously the client will insert her contact details. The client wants that if she inserts and email it will be a hyperlink. She doesn't need a form or anything too fancy. She would be ok with a mailto applied to it. The field is in this moment applied as a textarea. The details she has "Newlines to XHTML Line Breaks" applied. Is there a special way so I can apple a simple html link with a hyperlink with mailto bla bla bla. I would like the most simple workout as possible. Really thanks!!! Once this is finished and some other details I will show to the team!
  16. I have just finished and uploaded new layout of the MSSOOnline website. http://mssoonline.org/ I used latest ProcessWire and HTMK Kickstart to develop this website for not-for-profit organization. This is another not-for-profit website I developed with ProcessWire CMS as volunteering work. I love ProcessWire so much that I keep creating website for free for charities!!! Please provide your feedback for improvement or to fix any issues.
  17. I've been really enjoying using Bohemian Coding's Sketch app for the past couple of months and recently I noticed their official user manual for Sketch is powered by ProcessWire! How cool is that?! http://www.bohemiancoding.com/sketch/help/
  18. Hi, I'm trying to build my own install file to be able to start every new PW install with a fixed number of fields, So far I've dumped my previous PW database into a .SQL file and included it in the install.sql, during the install it nicely imports all my database settings into my newly installed database but I do have a problem with the admin user, when I try to login I get a any ideas how I can fix this or copy a database into a new install profile?
  19. I did a big beginner mistake. I've deleted MAMP PRO to use XAMPP and in the process of the uninstalation of MAMP PRO I deleted all my databases... Fortunately my projects are already live so I have a working copy on the FTP of my client. I would like to have all this data as it is online so it works local on my computer. This is working with a processwire CMS, the url is http://www.fem-k.com/ if in need... Please let me know how to solve this problem so I can go on playing with processwire on my computer. Thank you very much!!!
  20. Hi, I have a question about PW. For developing totally custom applications/extensions, maybe parse some data from other site or whatever, you should need to build new module. I reckon modules are extensions to PW. It is said that PW is CMF (Content management framework), that shows when you use it's API. But is it also any kind of framework for PHP, that comes in handy, when developing custom applications? Such as is Codeigniter or CakePHP? Or must be code written in pure PHP? Thanks. Best regards, Franci

  22. Hello, I wish to create a forum as it's one of the features of the social network that I'm building with ProcessWire. It'll be much like yahoo answers. It will have questions & registered users can answer the questions as well as ask new questions. In the end a best answer will be chosen by the asker but I'm keeping this feature for future, right now I just need following: A way for registered users to ask question A way for registered users to answer question A way for all users to view all questions & answers As I'm not a very skilled or experienced php developer, also I'm new to ProcessWire, I'm totally clueless on how can I manage to make this. My initial thought was to modify & use comments system but I'm not sure how good this idea is. I'd love to hear your approach for this task. Thank you very much for your time.
  23. Hi, I am web designer and I want to learn PW by create simple e-commerce website. I've been search around to find solution, comparing every option & weight both it's advantage/disadvantage, I think most solutions out there is too complex or they already make lot of assumption, not to mention the more code means heavier page load. That's why I finally get conclusion that PW is the right answer. Well, the solution not answered yet, but I sense PW have the power to be there. Let say example, Ms. Turner is local bakery which have 50 product under 5 category. She don't need complex shipping since order could be pickup at store or using private delivery courier and of course She don't need sophisticated payment system or any other crap feature. Yes, there is customer for that kind solution, but not for Ms. Turner and hundred millions people out there. All she want is just simple website to accept order. I do aware that there's already tutorial out there, but it's just answer for specific solution. Not to mention how hard it's gonna be when this forum already have ton of pages. If You're not mind, I create this thread so everyone could learn from beginning especially for newbie or copy paste guy just like me to feel the power of PW. This thread would be tutorial creating e-commerce from scratch and the final goal is free theme both front page and admin page specially designed for Ms. Turner and hundred millions small business right there. Apeisa already make awesome module for PW and I already tested it, its work so wonderful so let's complement it. For starting point, let's start from designing the homepage. The content would be: Home - Header (logo, cart toolbar, search) Content - 3 Image Main slider - 6 Featured product -Footer - Quick Link - Social Network Link - Twitter Widget - Newsletter Subscribe What is the best practice from code perspective?
  24. EDIT I got it working by adding a Rewrite rule to htaccess to specify the correct root. I wonder what changed in Windows 8 making this necessary It seems that I am having some issues with ProcessWire when running locally on a WAMP environment (specifically Windows 8). I had a working Windows 7 AMP environment and ProcessWire apps were working with ease. After updating to Windows 8, Apache seemed to be throwing 403s all over the place. It turned out WIndows 8 uses IPv6 primarily so ::1 references needed to be added to the apache conf file in addition to 127.0.0.1 references. After this change, all of my other local sites (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc) started working again. However, my ProcessWire apps are still seeing issues. Basically I can navigate to and load the index page, but every other sub page results in a 403 (or 404 if I remove all Apache deny rules). I'm guessing something is off in ProcessWire's routing? Anyone have any insight on how pages are being served up and if there's a way to fix this? tl;dr Running Windows 8 AMP environment and ProcessWire is not serving up pages correctly
