  1. Idea for this came up at PW-H5BP thread so I decided to open this for discussion. At the moment Site Profiles require manual installation. So basicly we would offer some simple option at the beginning of installation for user to choose available profile from modules directory before they proceed. Technically this should be pretty doable since other modules can already be installed similar way at the admin. Thoughts?
  2. Just saw (via Gertrud Schrenk) that BitNami (Company that packages popular open source apps into easy to install images in various formats, including AWS cloud images) is having a contest for which apps to include next as a package, where you can vote for ProcessWire. To quote the site: Please, all go and vote for PW at: bitnami.com/contest ! Cheers
  3. I've recently had to install a couple of processwire sites on a cloud hosting service (TSO Host) and have had the same issue arise on both occasions. What happens is that when you try and access any page of the site, an error message - "Unable to complete this request due to an error. Error has been logged" - is displayed. Inspecting the log revealed this particular error: 2013-12-03 05:23:34 ? http://rebeccacharlton.com.gridhosted.co.uk/?/ Error: session_start() [function.session-start]: Failed to initialize storage module: memcache (path: ) (line 104 of /var/sites/r/rebeccacharlton.com/public_html/wire/core/Session.php) A simple fix I found on these forums was to comment out line 155 on the root index.php file: ini_set("session.save_path", rtrim($config->paths->sessions, '/')); But I was wondering whether there might be a more thorough fix than this... I think the problem stems from the fact that on cloud hosting, the root isn't the simple root because you're on a shared server with many other sites. One attempt to solve the problem was to find the true root using: echo $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; and then replacing the "/" on line 155 with the result but this caused the same problem as before. Only commenting out the line entirely worked as a solution but this feels somewhat like a compromise. Any help to resolve the issue would be much appreciated! Many thanks in advance, ben
  4. I FINALLY found where my DB Port information was under "system variables" from the phpmyadmin home page, but I can't get the correct information as far as the DB host goes. I have tried nearly everything, from "localhost" to the listing under "hostname" also listed in the variables, and then finally I was getting an error message saying something about a "socket", so I found a listing for "socket from the system variables and that, TOO, didn't work. I created the database correctly, named the dang thing correctly, I KNOW I put in the correct password... Nothing seems to be working. I wanted to use ProcessWire because it was suppoosed to be a fast easy and light alternative to Wordpress. I'm builidng my own template and it's gonna be a mostly static site... I just wanted to throw it up on the web while streamlining it enough for some changes to content every once and awhile... But this is not fitting the bill.
  5. Hi there, My site's URL is the installation folder. How can I make my site load the home page on the URL root? http://www.mysite.com/ instead of http://www.mysite.com/cms/ Thanks

  7. Topic is solved. Reason: human error I idiot simply have exported the wrong DB to the online installation! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, have some trouble when try to move local installation online. I have copied all files via FTP, have deleted sessions and cache files, have set write permissions to folders and updated DB-credentials. Have transferred the complete DB from local to Online. Online PHP version is 5.2.12-nmm4, but I also have switched it to CGI-Version 5.3.18-nmm1. It behaves exactly the same: When try to access root '/' or '/processwire/' or any other url I get the Error: Fatal error: Call to a member function hasRole() on a non-object in /htdocs/wire/core/Page.php on line 1275 The Line in page.php is $template = $this->getAccessTemplate(); var_dump($template) is NULL after that line, - $this->getAccessTemplate() tries to return PageAccess::getAccessTemplate($this); // the method in PageAccess: /** * Returns the template from which we get our role/access settings from * * @return Template|null Returns null if none * */ public static function getAccessTemplate(Page $page) { $parent = self::getAccessParent($page); if(!$parent->id) return null; return $parent->template; } whereas var_dump($this) at this point is: object(Language)#216 (23) { ["isDefaultLanguage:protected"]=> bool(true) ... the default-language! Any help is apreciated.
  8. I'm getting the following error when installing PW on a client's server. It appears after I've entered admin account information. Unfortunately, my client's hosting customer support is worthless and hasn't been able to help. Does anyone have any idea why this error is occurring? ERROR: MCRYPT_CREATE_IV(): COULD NOT GATHER SUFFICIENT RANDOM DATA (LINE 161 OF C:\HOSTINGSPACES\CPVINCCO\RETHINKPAINT.COM\WWWROOT\WIRE\CORE\PASSWORD.PHP) THIS ERROR MESSAGE WAS SHOWN BECAUSE /INSTALL.PHP STILL EXISTS. ERROR HAS BEEN LOGGED.
  9. Hello, I recently installed a version of ProcessWire on a site which was still running with a static index.html file. So as not to disrupt that while the installation and set-up were underway, I changed the index.php file in ProcessWire to _index.php. The set-up worked fine (apart from the warning at the end they the installer couldn't find the index.php" file). And the site seems to run fine if I navigate to mysitename.com/_index.php However, when I change the name back to plain old index.php, I get the error message: Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Empty delimiter in /home/content/49/7349449/html/BE/_index.php on line 50 Might anyone have any idea how to fix this? I've looked in the various config files for someplace where that _index.php might be logged, but no cigars. Thanks in advance for your help. ben
  10. Hi, I managed the installation and fired up the starter web site. All seemed well but when I click on any of the page links in the basic application, I just get messages like (different for each page): Not Found The requested URL /ProcessWire/about/ was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at egerton Port 80 I'm running Ubutu server 12.04 in a VirtualBox on an iMac. I pulled PW last night using git clone. I have deleted install.php and the install directory. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks --Gary
  11. Does anyone know what it would take to create a SimpleScripts installation script for ProcessWire. The list of existing applications you can install on your server hosting with just a couple clicks is here: http://www.simplescr...com/script_list It would be awesome to see ProcessWire listed there to be able to use. My web host Bluehost has those scripts installed, WordPress fires off without a hitch, and you can install a fresh install in just seconds. Some of the others the configuration maybe needs tweaked, and are not quite as foolproof. thanks!
  12. Hi there, After developing a site locally, I'm now going through the motions of installing onto an Ubuntu 12.04 VPS. Here are some of the issues I'm having; any advice around this first remote install would be greatly appreciated I have a VirtualHost pointing to a document root that includes 'ProcessWire'. In this case, 'wire' and 'site' appear as the folders in the document root. I assume this is OK? If a specify the domain name, I see my own .html file. Is I add index.php to the domain name, I see "Unable to complete this request. The error has been logged...". The errors.txt file contains the following message: 2012-11-11 18:23:10 ? http://www.gazley.co.uk/?/ Compile Error Cannot redeclare class FormBuilder (line 22 of /srv/www/gazley.co.uk/ProcessWire/site/modules/FormBuilder/FormBuilder.module) To start with, any ideas what is going wrong in my setup? Cheers!
  13. Hi, I've started to install PW and I am seeing the following messages: As to error 1, should these be writable for the Apache user, IOW, www-data ? Same question again for error 2 Error: Directory ./site/assets/ must be writable. Please adjust the permissions before continuing. Error: File ./site/config.php must be writable. Please adjust the permissions before continuing. Many thanks, --Gary
  14. hello forum, i'm an absolute newbie to pw who has worked (and still works) with textpattern and contao. i have a firm grasp of html, css and some of jquery but very little of php (not to say nothing at all 8) ). i came across processwire and it looks very, very promising to me. i installed locally on xammp. however, immediately i'm having my first questions. pleas apologize, if this are silly questions from a pro's point of view: - on finishing the installation i got the following message: but how do i do that? does that refer to the permissions my ftp user has? and what would be the right permission (0000)? - within /site/config.php i found the following comment: does that mean, all directories processwire will creates will have assigned 0777 permissions? this doesn't matter to me on localhost, but live, in a shared hosting environment, this seems to be a high risk. if so, is that really necessary or can it be overcome somehow? thanks for answering and for your time! totoff
  15. Hi I try to install PW but get stopped at step 4: System does not accept my Username/PW/Email and throws that error: Missing account information Any idea where this comes from and how to fix it? Thanks already....
  16. Hello there! First of all I want to say hello to everyone. This is my first post, although I've been working with ProcessWire for some time now. I must say PW is a great little CMS/CMF and I'm learning so much from it. Here's m problem: I've uploaded a fresh copy of PW into my clients ftp. The first message that I get after i visit pw directory in the browser is: Error Exception: DB connect error 1045 - Access denied for user ''@'localhost' (using password: NO) (in /navigroup.pl/wire/core/ProcessWire.php line 95) I didn't change any of the files, only uploaded them to the server. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem here? Thanks, Paweł
  17. Hello to all of you, I'm new to Processwire and I've been trying desperately for a few hours to just... install it on my localhost (Ubuntu 12.04, Apache 2.2.22). You'll soon find out that I am not a professionel web developper, but still... this is driving me crazy and I'd love to get some help. To describe my problem briefly : installation goes fine, no problem. I set everything as asked during the process (writable directories and so on). Then I go to 'View my site' : just fine. And as soon as I hit ANY link on the Basic homepage, I get that 404 error quite a few talked about in other posts... So far, I've tested : - nonsens string in my .htaccess : throws a 500 error (sound good, no?) - re-read everything in my Apache setting (again I'm no professional and couldn't find anything wrong...) - checked the mod_rewrite in my phpinfo... Looks good. I'll put it underneath for those interested to help. - tried to uncomment the rewriteBase rule in the .htaccess. Nothing worked (actually, and that's CRAZY to me, it worked once on a reload (I DID see the ABOUT page simply putting for the nth time RewriteBase /mysubdir/, but it worked ONCE (can you believe this?) and never again. - tried restarting my Apache server many times... no change.... I can't think of anything else to do, so please, if someone can help, I'd greatly appreciate... Thanks in advance for your help and time. My phpinfo is attached.phpinfo.php.html Celfred. EDIT : Oh I'm SO sorry and ashamed... (Did I tell you I was no professional?) I had just one last idea before going to bed... trying one last change on my rewriteBase line and... It worked ! It's cool, but I can't believe it took me hours to find this out. Actually my server is installation is in private/processwire/ subfolder and I simply forgot the 'private' part in the path... I guess you can ignore my post now... Have a good night...
