  1. Hi all, A client needs 12x languages on Processwire - I've set this up and it works beautifully out of the box. Again Processwire is wonderful thing. One thing they've asked for a way that languages are shown on fields on a per-user basis. This is so translators won't be able to accidentally edit the wrong language. So for example: A German translator will only be able to edit the German version of the fields. Is this be possible? I know that you can set a default language for each user, but could there be a way to set this and therefore restrict their access to one language only. Any help here would be massively appreciated as always. Thanks!
  2. Is there a way to lock down (via role) the ability to update / publish a page live? My client needs some people to be able to edit a page, but the page changes must be reviewed by another member of staff who have access to push the update live. Is this possible? Thanks
  3. So far I have seen that you can only allow superuser to manage roles, however I don't need the admin of the site managing everything else. I need to add a permission to allow them to add roles if needed and delete roles if needed.. Basically control roles. Any thoughts on accomplishing this?
  4. Is there any way to disable a user from being able to edit the Name field - that is the field that determines that page's URL? I've hidden the title field, so that can't be edited. I know you disable editing of a page, which would solve this. However, disabling a role from editing a page stop that role from being able to sort its children (see here) and I do want to keep that behavior. Any advice would be kindly appreciated! b
  5. Hi there, I'm new to PW and loving it so far! I'd just like to know... is it possible to have view-only access for unpublished pages? I can't seem to get that level of permission working without also having to grant EDIT access, which I don't want to do. Thanks! Lauren
  6. I'm playing around with permissions for THE FIRST TIME and I'm quite excited about the whole thing because when I log in as this other role I made I realize how much cleaner it looks of course to somebody who isn't developing the site. Anyway I have a template listing that is the default/only created under template listings. (A listing may not have children.) So then I made a role, listing_manager, you know... to manage the listings... granted permission to view, edit, and create them. Problem is, when logged in as the listing manager, I can edit the listings, but there's no "New" link to create any? I guess that's because that link is part of the listings page/template's row/branch, so... it doesn't show for its children though... which are all of the same template where the role does have permission to create. This seems like a silly bug. Any suggestions as to what might be the simplest, cleanest fix for this? or maybe I have something set up wrong? Thanks.
  7. Hello Everybody, after I moved to a new server yesterday, processwire always logs me out of the admin page. If i click on an menu item in the backend sometimes it takes me to the clicked page, sometimes I get redirected to the login page. Does this has anything to with the session handling? I think after the migration something is wrong with the file permissions. I deleted the old session files. After that I wanted to delete the AIOM cache, but that throws the error below: Error: Exception: The permissions (chmod) to delete old cache files could not be changed. (in /var/www/public/site/modules/ProcessWire-AIOM-All-In-One-Minify-AIOM-/AllInOneMinify.module line 646) #0 /var/www/public/site/modules/ProcessWire-AIOM-All-In-One-Minify-AIOM-/AllInOneMinify.module(837): AllInOneMinify::_clearCache(true) #1 /var/www/public/wire/core/Wire.php(411): AllInOneMinify::ClearCacheFromBackend(Object(HookEvent)) #2 /var/www/public/wire/core/Wire.php(344): Wire->runHooks('render', Array) #3 /var/www/public/wire/modules/Process/ProcessPageView.module(171): Wire->__call('render', Array) #4 /var/www/public/wire/modules/Process/ProcessPageView.module(171): Page->render() #5 [internal function]: ProcessPageView->___execute(true) the asstes directory has a 755 permission, aswell as the sessions, aiom and cache directory Thanks for any hints on that topic!
  8. Hi, just wondering if there is a users and user permissions tutorial anywhere, as i want to level up my understanding.
  9. Hi, in PW 2.4.0 I have setup a role "publisher", containing the permission to Clone a page and Clone a tree of pages. All Permissions for this role: Delete pages Edit pages View pages User can update profile/password Clone a page Clone a tree of pages The user that is being set to publisher should then be able to view and edit, but also clone a page or tree of pages. Within the templates' Access tab, I have selected the publisher role to be able to: VIEW PAGES EDIT PAGES CREATE PAGES ADD CHILDREN Am I missing a "CLONE PAGES" option here? On the family tab, I have set "Can this template be used for new pages?" to "Yes". For some (for me) unapparent reason, I do not have the option to copy a page from within the tree, the button is missing, even though the template and role/user seems to be setup properly. How can I get this to work? Kind regards, Pascal
  10. I just got started with ProcessWire and am enjoying it so far. I followed instructions in a post by Ryan to set up an "author" role, but I have run into some trouble getting permissions for a template to take effect. Here is what I have done so far: Added the "page-publish" permission under the "Permissions" page. Created a role called "contributor" (instead of "author") for my website. The "contributor" role has the "view pages" and "edit pages" permissions checked. Created two templates called "articles" and "article" for individual posts. The access settings for the "articles" template for the "contributor" role has: "view pages" and "add children." The "article" template for the same role has: "view pages," "edit pages," and "create pages" checked. Created a page called "Articles" that is hidden and uses the "articles" template. I logged into a test user which has the "contributor" role and it just shows the "view" link when I click "Articles" in the page list. If I go to the "add" link path from the admin user for the "Articles" page and visit it under the test user, it says "you don't have access to add pages here." I would like the "contributor" role to be able to create new article posts, but the permissions did not seem to take effect. If anyone has any ideas on what to do, please let me know. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
  11. I am new to PW. For top level pages like Home, About, Contact, etc., and on specific pages like /contact/thank-you, I want to restrict my client from deleting or moving those pages. This is so that I can preserve the site structure and keep my client from breaking the site. I still want my client to be able to edit the pages, just not delete or move them. For a page under the top level, e.g. /about/mission-statement, the client can do whatever he/she wants. It would also be great to specify that a certain page cannot be edited or deleted except by the super user. Without creating and maintaing separate templates for these top level pages (assuming that they are basic pages that use the same fields), what is a good a method to restrict the client? Can I create a module with a hook? Or is there an inherent core or contributed module that can handle this? Or do I need to create separate templates? Also, is there a way to restrict clients from deleting pages that have children?
  12. I'm having a hard time figuring out the permissions settings to allow my client to have full content editing functionality (edit, add, move) without seeing the module/users tabs (or at least not having the capability to edit/add users). Any tips? Thanks!
  13. Hi, I have deployed a PW 2.4 site to a shared domain as an addon domain. The URL is http://www.upasana.ca. I have run into the following issues: 1. If I use the .htaccess file that ships with PW 2.4 I get an "Internal Server Error". I have PW 2.3 sites as addons and they are working. If I copy the .htaccess file from PW 2.3 the site appears to work. The main site is a PW 2.3 site so I don't know if there is a conflict between the addon domain having PW 2.4. 2. I am getting an unstyled login and admin system. I think this might be permissions. When I check the permissions for the /wire folders they are 755 and files are 600. I do not know if the files should be 644 but I don't want to mess with the wire folders unless I know what is supposed to be there. Thanks, Anthony
  14. Hi! Don't need it at the moment, but I'm interested in... Is it possible to set permissions for pages belong to a category? Maybe userGroups (apeisa, forum post here) could be a solution, but it's a early dev stage. Simplest way to build categories should be page references. Categories are pages and will referenced to (content) pages via page reference field. Like blog tags / categories. Content should use the same template. Is there a (easy) way to grant a role view permissions to pages belong to "category A"? For example like forum category/ board or gallery album view permissions to roles? Maybe a workaround/ solution If I build a template for each category I can manage permissions via template access, but I don't really need more than one template apart from permission settings... Use the same template should be done with advanced template setting -> alternate template filename Mentioned by Soma at the topic A different way of using templates / delegate approach
  15. Hi there! I try to add a permission to a certain group so each user will be able to edit his OWN page(wich will be created programmatically). And they must not move the page, even within the same parent. First, the group have only view-page and edit-page permission. And I created a module with this code: public function init() { $this->addHookAfter('Page::editable', $this, 'editable'); } public function editable($event){ $page = $event->object; if($event->return) return; // if it's the role I want to edit permission if($this->user->hasRole("commercant")) { // if it's his page if ($page->created_users_id == $this->user->id) { $event->return = true; } } } I found this strange that there's a button for moving the page (on the page listing).. So I tried it and it doesn't worked, even within the same parent. Not so bad, but I would hope to find a solution to remove the "Move" button. After, I tried to change the parent when editing the page(under settings tab) and it did it with success . So I wonder, is my code have done anything wrong? Quite strange! I use the last dev version. Thank's for your time!
  16. Sorry but i can't set up a new role called 'editor' where i want to this role have permission to edit and create new content to the site; i manage to apply the edit feature with the module "PageEditPerUser" made by ryan but i need to apply the same for create. How can i do this? EDIT: i found this Edit template -> access tab -> and "activate" page view / edit / add child permissions for each roles there. But i need to add acces to each template i have to each roles? Regards,
  17. Hello, Somehow I can't seem to get a new user role to publish new pages -- only create and save unpublished. I created a new role called "editor" with view, edit, delete, and move permissions. I also allowed access management on the appropriate template. Still nothing. What am I missing? I'm using PW 2.2. Knowing how this goes, I'll probably figure this out in a second or two...! Tempting fate, -e.
  18. Greetings ProcessWire People. I created a new PW installation today and all was going well until I tried to create new pages. The template drop-down menu refuses to populate. It lists the templates without a problem on the pre-existing pages when I look at their settings. Does this look familiar? I did need to edit the .htaccess file to allow for a custom RewriteBase. Best wishes, Jenn
  19. I am stuck. Seven days ago, something changed such that when users try to upload images to my PW site, the images are posted to the page, but they show up as zero bytes. The folder is created in the files folder, the image name is recorded, the type of file is recorded, but the byte size is zero. When I looked into the problem this morning, I received the "This request was aborted because it appears to be forged." message whenever I tried to upload images. Turning off protectCSRF in the config file suppresses the aborted image message and now I just get the zero-byte image bug, but I don't know why. I've checked permissions on the files directory, changed it recursively to 777 and then back to 755 with no change. I checked that I have active sessions, logs, and cache folders. I checked on the permissions of the config.php file. I changed the sessionName, and turned off the challenge and fingerprint functions but nothing is budging. I installed a new PW site yesterday and so I keep thinking something is colliding but it looks like the images have been failing to write to the files directory for the last week. I'm getting the same results in multiple browsers after any number of cache-clears so I don't think it is client-side. This is a look at the PHPinfo for the site. Best wishes, J
  20. I am trying out ProcessWire for the first time and I have installed everything. I can get into the admin panel and edit. The problem I am have it when I try to open up templates via FTP. I get the following error: Could not change directory to “/www/processwiredev/site-default/templates”. Server said: Can't change directory to /www/processwiredev/site-default/templates: No such file or directory Error -125: remote chdir failed I am able to get into these files when I use my webhosts file manager, just not via FTP. It does appear I am able to get into and edit the readme file and license files /site-default via FTP, but nothing else If I tried to change permissions it shows as 000 in FTP only. BTW: I am using Coda to access this. Any ideas?
  21. Hello I wonder how I should do if I want give to my client the permission to delete some specific pages but prohibit others. In my case, the site where I am working on there are "works" pages, that I'd like the client be able to edit/delete but the rest of pages, he can just edit, not delete them. In other word, I'd like my client can be able to delete to pages with template "work" and no other pages with other templates. This should be my sitemap: Home (client can just edit) Works (just edit) - Work 1 (edit and delete) - Work 2 (edit and delete) ... - Work N (edit and delete) Store (just edit) Contact (just edit) Any suggestion? Thanks
  22. Hello All, This question is a part of my series of questions that I'm coming up with while building a drama ticket booking/selling website. So for today my question is, I want that only registered users should be able to review(comment) any drama. Others who wish to comment/review the drama should first signup and then add the comment. I've figured this is possible if I add a new permission such as add-review and link to a role (eg, in my case registered is a role). But, how exactly will the system know that add-review refers to adding comments? Which step am I missing here? Or is this not the way to do it? Please, I need some help here. Thank you all in advance.
  23. Hello, Not long ago I asked about the ability of using ProcessWire to run the national website of a political party. (See http://processwire.com/talk/topic/2529-replacing-nation-builder-with-processwire-for-justice-party-political-party/) I now have an additional question related to member/user/staff permission. Our staff will need permissions based on two factors: 1) Location 2) Role in party Most CMS have group permissions so I could do (1) or (2) but not both. Let me give an example. Location will be based on each state. So we need 50 (51) of them. Role in the party will be something like... 1) Supporter 2) Member 3) Town Staff 4) District Staff 5) State Staff 6) Regional Staff 7) National Staff I might want to break it down further but that is the jist. In ProcessWire Admin section, we want the ability for staff to be able to do the normal CRUD functions on people that register. We will also create custom reports. For example reports that list users by street name. Reports that print out all users telephone numbers. For location, we want to limit a staff's access to only registered users that are in their own town, state, region AND below. So, if I am town staff of Norwich, CT and login. The only users I would see in ProcessWire would be users from Norwich, CT. If I were the district manager, I would see everyone in Norwich as well as all users from within my district. If I were state staff, I would see everyone in my state. And so on. For the above, I would just limit reports based on group level (staff level)? How about the location? Anyhow, I just need to know if I will be able to limit access and displaying or reports, etc in the backend of ProcessWire as I am thinking. I'm a bad PHP coder (former EE users) so I am worried this might overwhelm me. lol Thanks! Carlos
  24. Hi all, I am creating a site that will have multiple users in ProcessWire and I want to be able to limit the ability to edit pages so users can only edit the pages that they themselves created. I noticed the default functionality allows you to assign roles yet anyone with this role appears to be able to edit whatever pages and templates have access to that role. Thank you for your help!
  25. Hi all, I would like to redirect the session after successful login for a specific role. I want to keep a specific role in the front-end most of the time and upon successful login, would like to redirect them to the front page instead of the Pages section in the back-end. How would you suggest hooking into the login function and redirecting that role upon successful login? I know I'll need to use $session->redirect(). Thanks!
