  1. Hi, My site is 'www.peterdekeer.be', the admin is currently installed under /processwire/. Is it possible to install it under 'admin.peterdekeer.be'? I read a few weeks ago about the admin that it's possible to couple it somewhat looser. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thx
  2. How do you guys go about designing custom admin areas for your websites/applications, for when the default page tree just isn't practical? Do you customize the actual admin area provided for client users that hides all the things they aren't concerned with, or do you just create a new admin area altogether, as you would any other frontend template, but with protected access? so as to not hack up the admin too much and leave it intact? What do you all prefer to do for your custom admin UI? I feel like the latter would be much quicker and easy with the API. Thoughts?
  3. I just installed a fresh copy of PW 2.5.3 and the admin looks different now than it did even when I installed it. The font is slightly larger, and there is a new link alongside every page in the Page List, together with the "edit", "view", "new", and "move": "edit template"? Also the additional info in the Page List is formatted funky: , [model.title: L380 | model_year: 2006 | listing_status.title: For Sale] Anyone know why this might be...
  4. What happens when you have many - dozens, hundreds, ... - child pages in the tree, like typically 'posts' for a page 'blog'? Can you put them under their own management section on the top admin bar/masthead? How? Or will that happen automatically? This question has probably been answered many times in many different ways, but I am probably using the wrong search terms. Or it is something painfully obvious that I am overlooking. Don't know where to start with this. ProcessWire is great btw! Seems to get everything right that Wordpress got wrong.
  5. I updated an installation from 2.4.9 to 2.5.10 and now on every page in admin the update messages fill up the whole screen and won't go away. I simply replaced the wire dir, the .htaccess and the index.php. Any Ideas? Thanks
  6. Hi, just wondering if there is a users and user permissions tutorial anywhere, as i want to level up my understanding.
  7. Hi guys, I'd like to center the admin login form. Here's how it is now: http://api.drp.io/files/5442717971fe5.png Any suggestions on how to center it? I've tried to do it but it broke all the responsive layout... I guess my css skills are a bit rusty...
  8. After months of silence on the forum I've decided to speak out and introduce a brand new admin theme for ProcessWire 2.4.x I've made the theme initially for our internal business project and I've decided to share it with you all The theme itself is designed only for ProcessWire 2.4.x and up because it's wrapped as a module (new theming design approach introduced in ProcessWire 2.4) and it also has it's own options you can configure. It has all the bells and whistles as Default Admin Theme of PW 2.4 as well as some of my own You can download it from here: https://github.com/nvidoni/AdminThemeModesta and please let me know of any mistakes you find during your workflow... Changelog: v1.0.1 Added unpublished pages status icon next to username (fires modal window with unpublished pages list that you can edit) Improved PageList (children are more indented with arrows before them, hidden pages have more lighter color and icons have more darker color - by suggestion from Martijn Geerts) Other CSS improvements UPDATE: You can find version compatible with Processwire 2.4.4 and up on dev branch: https://github.com/nvidoni/AdminThemeModesta/tree/dev and also let me know about any mistakes that should be fixed. Dev version isn't updated to v1.0.1 yet because of strange problem with theme not switching right (doesn't activate) - it started to happen from 2.4.5 dev version of PW...) and it seems it happens only in Windows environments...), hopefully we'll fix this soon. To sum it up and let the images do the talking, here we go:
  9. After upgrading a site to 2.5, i can no longer access the admin modules page, i get redirected to a 404 page. I'm not really sure how to fix this, and wondering if anyone has some tips or ideas where to start... one idea i had was to export the whole site with the site profile export and then install on a clean 2.5, hoping that would sort out whatever snafu has occurred.. Edit: was being caused by the page edit per role module...
  10. Hello, I think that an option inside templates that could limit the number of childrens that a page could have, maybe is useful in certains conditions. it´s that possible or I have to rely on hooks? thanks.
  11. I was looking for a way to group fields within the admin today and came across this wiki entry which does just that http://wiki.processwire.com/index.php/Template_Tabs IE have fields nested under certain categories when editing a page such as General Content (heading/category) Summary (nested field) Body (nested field) Featured Content (heading/category) Homepage images (nested field) Homepage summary (nested field) I was wondering if there were plans to make this a little more straightforward and perhaps use Categories or Tags. We already use Tags to group fields on the main fields (admin >setup >fields) and could this be extended slightly?
  12. Hello guys I'm new here! I've been working on this website that I've made with Foundation. I wanted to put a CMS in it so now i'm here! On my localhost the website works perfect. I've adjusted the Processwire CMS to my wishes and with /login I and other users would be able to change the texts on the website. So I thought I was ready to put it live. I exported the MySQL files. Created a new db. Imported everything. And via an FTP client uploaded all the files. The homepage works fine. But now whenever I want to login using /login which I changed /processwire to I get a 404 error: Not FoundThe requested URL /login was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. What am I doing wrong here? I've checked a lot of messages on this forum about the .htaccess file but I haven't got it to work yet and need help from more experienced PW users:) This is my website: http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301] # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Access Restrictions: Protect ProcessWire system files # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Block access to any htaccess files RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)\.htaccess$ [NC,OR] # Block access to protected assets directories RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/assets/(cache|logs|backups|sessions|config|install|tmp)($|/.*$) [OR] # Block acceess to the /site/install/ directory RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/install($|/.*$) [OR] # Block dirs in /site/assets/ dirs that start with a hyphen RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/assets.*/-.+/.* [OR] # Block access to /wire/config.php, /site/config.php, /site/config-dev.php, and /wire/index.config.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(wire|site|site-[^/]+)/(config|index\.config|config-dev)\.php$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP-based files in /templates-admin/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(wire|site|site-[^/]+)/templates-admin($|/|/.*\.(php|html?|tpl|inc))$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP or markup files in /site/templates/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/templates($|/|/.*\.(php|html?|tpl|inc))$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP files in /site/assets/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/assets($|/|/.*\.php)$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP files in core or core module directories RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)wire/(core|modules)/.*\.(php|inc|tpl|module)$ [OR] # Block access to any PHP files in /site/modules/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(site|site-[^/]+)/modules/.*\.(php|inc|tpl|module)$ [OR] # Block access to any software identifying txt files RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)(COPYRIGHT|INSTALL|README|htaccess)\.(txt|md)$ [OR] # Block all http access to the default/uninstalled site-default directory RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (^|/)site-default/ # If any conditions above match, isssue a 403 forbidden RewriteRule ^.*$ - [F,L] # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Ensure that the URL follows the name-format specification required by ProcessWire # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} "^/~?[-_.a-zA-Z0-9/]*$" # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # If the request is for a file or directory that physically exists on the server, # then don't give control to ProcessWire, and instead load the file # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !(favicon\.ico|robots\.txt) # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # OPTIONAL: Prevent ProcessWire from attempting to serve images or anything in /site/assets/. # Both of these lines are optional, but can help to reduce server load. 13. I'm signed-in as admin with guest, superuser roles, but cannot edit any content within Body or Sidebar. This is despite the Access page apparently showing I have permission to do all this. I'm really keen to get started with PW, but this is extremely frustrating.
  14. Short tip Use the ajax powered search to find pages you want to edit—it's a super-fast way to get around the admin. Longer (but same) tip I was on the cusp of not writing this because it is likely so obvious to so many, but just in case you are like me in terms of navigation in the Admin for editing pages... In PW 2.4 the new search makes finding pages lightening fast. While some themes from before 2.4 was released display recently edited pages to help speed navigation, the new default theme in 2,4 doesn't; and I missed that a bit. But the new search is super fast so now whenever and wherever I am in the Admin, if I want to edit a page I just type in the search box, it ajax-pops, one click and I'm in the page ready to edit—no need to visit the page tree Thanks to Ryan and crew for this small but great advance OK, back to work.
  15. I have copied over the templates-admin folder into the site folder, however, my admin template never changes. Any idea what could be wrong?
  16. Hi, Having an odd issue with image fields where there seems image fields have not got the option to add descriptions in or trash the image. See the screengrab below: It seems to be happening on fields with one image, if I add multiple images I get the little icon to change it to expanded view and am able there to trash images and add descriptions. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I can see for a very brief moment a flash of the description box on page load but it then gets hidden.
  17. Hi! Is there any way when a parents children are sorted by the user to enable a new child to be listed at the top of the list? my site has loads of child pages so it's cumbersome to add a new child and move it when it is listed at the end of the list each time, instead of the top (the same way they delivered on the site reading from the top of the list). Cheers,
  18. Hello everyone, I'm a PW newbie. Overwhelmed from all I've seen and tried out the last few days. My CMS of choice the last couple of years has been MODX. Other than that, I am working as a frontend and backend developer since over 10 years. Having so much freedom to work directly with PHP inside a CMS / CMF is a relief. No new pseudo scripting language one has to learn (as in Typo3), no unnecessary restrictions or bloat. So, my first general question: If I have an existing dataset in mySQL, that I would like to manage with PW (i.e. inside the admin area of PW) - how would I most likely do that? I know I could export the database tables to PW pages. But what if I wanted a database CRUD system inside the PW area? In MODX "Evo" you could build a custom module for such things. You know - phpMyAdmin is over the top for most clients, and an admin section with a different login and URL is clutter. How can I extend the PW backend? Is it possible to include an off-the shelf CRUD script somewhere? Is that not possible with PW? Or frowned upon? I'm just trying to see what the "best practises" are for these kinds of scenarios. Thanks for explanations, tips and pointers.
  19. Hey guys, having a few issues today uploading images in the admin (2.4) and the thumbnails are coming back blurred. These images aren't being upscaled. Very strange, not had this issue before. GD appears to be installed fine. Anyone had anything similar recently? Cheers,
  20. **** UPDATE *** nevermind. seems to be an issue with my server/php. by testing it on another server, everything runs as expected. thanks! ******************** Hey ryan! i ran in a very special problem today: i moved a page to another server. (Im using V2.3) everything is good, except: i cant login as admin - because there is a problem rendering the submitbutton... in ProcessLogin.module i get a strange error: "Fatal error: Call to a member function attr() on a non-object in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/[...]/wire/modules/Process/ProcessLogin/ProcessLogin.module on line 123" this is caused by trying to add the submitbutton rendered by InputfieldSubmit.module.... BUT: if i uncomment 123: $this->submitField->attr('name', 'login_submit'); 124: $this->submitField->attr('value', $this->_('Login')); // Login form: submit login button and 134: $this->form->add($this->submitField); everything of the loginscreen gets sucessful rendered (but without a login button, which is... well.. unusable the module itself (version 100) is fine, and taken fresh from git.. (i'm running in the same problem using the password-forget module)
  21. Is there a way to set a default value in the editing interface for a Field? For instance, for a Text, Integer or Page field used in a Template. For example, lets say I have a template called Songs with the field Length. Length has default value 3:00 (minutes). When I create a new Song Page, the Length field should appear pre-populated in the editing interface with the "3:00" default value.
  22. For some reason when a non-superuser has access to modify users it does not show the Content and Delete buttons (tabs) when editing a user. Is this intended? And what would be the easiest way to re-enable this? Thanks
  23. I've a site with different sections. Each user is assigned to a section and each section has an editor. I want those editors to be able to modify the users that are assigned to their section. I tried hooking into ProcessUser::execute but I'm not sure how to filter the 'pages'. $this->addHookBefore('ProcessUser::execute', $this, 'modifyuserpagelist'); In what way am I able to modify the User List?
  24. Hi all It would be great if I could create some new templates (php code) from admin menu in backend without to use FTP client Somethink like this -->> What do you think about it?
