Depends on what you call "serious" but it will be quite a bit of work for sure. IMHO buying FormBuilder will not be enough. What's more important is that you get a good understanding of how PW works. What is a ProcessModule? What is an Inputfield? What a Fieldtype? How does all this play together? Once you get that you can build anything with PW.

Exactly, however *shameless insert* , I am working on Screencasting and creating Processwire video contents both for beginners till Advanced level, a bit of me is wondering if it is something that will received by the community.  I am currently honing my Video editing skills back. Do you think the community might find this useful. I have always wanted to contribute PW resources since I tend to spend alot of time around the code. Thanks

I need a manga reader and this is the only one I've found working.

Side comment: Huge Manga / Anime fan here

Main Comment: You can get a template that has the similar view and plugin in Processwire easily to do that, however do you have this online or somewhere, I don't mind looking at this if you need a third eye , just give a shout-out if things get out of hand. I tend to peek at codes alot and make sense of them especially Processwire.

  3. I don't see why you can't in Processwire, you have can your Business Logic as you would in any PHP Application, but only using Processwire API to handle the information you collect from the front-end, into it's Admin, or you can build your business logic in a Module and save to your Database. so It is possible very much. The Backend will extremely work in your favour as it has good API to easily have a backend view to see your transactions. Others will reply with their view, but it depends on your processwire knowledge and PHP skills.

so I need to code the template as php and html after all? I thought it was supposed to be easy to use.
And after coding the template and all I still need to select the fields that I want to add to the template in the admin panel after all? Isn't that redundant?

Think of your template as the Presentation view and the fields as properties for a Data Container, the Page gives you all the data you need, then you are in control of the presentation. This is better than how WP works , because the system already exposes the data you need, how you render the template is now up to you.  This gives you room to plan the fields and pages and even have shared templates.

  5. When you create a template in the CMS , it creates the templates (virtually) and fields that holds the data in the Database, creating a template file in the folder allows you to tie that template with the data of the template in the CMS that was created. You have to explicitly create the template file and refresh

  6. My country ( Nigeria ) can't be accurate because there isn't enough testing centres thanks to corruption and bad leadership, those are cases they found, I am pretty confident that it would be much more than that.

    Hi all,

Apologies for the very loud silence!

I hope to elaborate more on this a bit later. However, rather than keep people guessing, I'll write something short.

I have been working my fingers to the bone to release a beta by spring 2020. I suppose it hasn't gone unnoticed that I rarely post in the forums at large these days. This is because I am dedicating nearly all my time to Padloper. The plan was to start early beta testing in mid-April 2020. This was largely on track. Like many of us, maybe most of us in the forums, we have all been affected in one way or another by the current situation in the world. This has thrown a monkey wrench in the works. I have had to readjust how I work, albeit my productivity taking a hit. I wish I could properly 'guesstimate' how much delay this is going to cause but it will just be futile. On the other hand, I appreciate that you have been waiting for a relatively long time for this release. I want to reassure you that I am not just kicking the can down the road. Maybe I should have been showing you more screenshots of progress but currently, that would just eat further into my limited time.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully, your patience.

    Cheers.

It is quite understandable, it's not easy having to share time between surviving and working at the same time, God speed

  8. I work from home, but now it's more reasons to stay indoors, but Corona virus impact isn't much here in Nigeria, but time will tell

  9. It's Linux for me anyday anytime, there are so much work I get down easily, also the terminal, I can pipe and do crazy stuff, I just installed awesomeWM and looking to play with that, I like i3 but learning C++ to customize my UI is too big of a task to take, with awesomeWM I can pick up Lua and customize my os. Been running Linux since Ubuntu 6 I think and always loved it as my programming environment.

  10. I think the question should be what type of application are you looking to build that requires MVC ? because I find PW appropriate for making proper CMS sites, anything other than that, then you should be using a proper MVC for such, there will be scenarios you will encounter, I doubt you would want to tweak PW to fit uncovered scenario.

  11. Oh I never got to write about that, so I think that would be a starting point. To think that I was brainstorming on what topic to write. I will share a draft and let you know how it goes. This seems like a good starting point, because most people are missing out on the beauty of Processwire.

  12. Normally you can use Processwire, however I would imagine you would have to build a lot of things around Processwire's API personally I would find it easier to go with an application framework, as that would give me more freedom around the architecture. You would need to know alot about Processwire API to pull that off, but it is possible, in one of my threads, I played with the concept of having a MVC like structure. So the choice is up to you.

But personally for that type of application I would go towards an application framework, as I would imagine you would need much more frameworks around caching, DB ORM.

...to get rich? ...to find a woman? ...to get happier in life? ...just for fun? ? Little bit kidding here, but imho the most important question is the "why". Or the "goal" why you are showcasing that. Did you see last weeks showcase of https://siebennull.com/ ? It can be as simple as that:

    JAZNQmX.png

That's what marketing people call "call to action". I didn't see one on your site

Just checked back and found it:

Has it been there before? If the main goal of your website is getting possible new clients I'd say that a small single line with your e-mail is maybe not the best option ? If you don't want to get spammed by client requests because it's a just-for-fun-showcase website, then that would be fine - it's all about the main goal ?

Lol I have a good job, I am just looking to showcase my skill and I guess inspire people. Yeah it's just for fun and showcasing my thoughts. Hopefully as time goes by, there would be much more content to share.

Nice, thx for sharing and welcome back to ProcessWire ? I like the design and I think it gives a good impression of who you are. I also had not the best experience with the navigation. First try was to scroll down but nothing happened, only the menu disappeared. Scrolling several times more finally showed the next section.

What could be missing (if that's not intentional) is a statement what you are looking for. Are you available for hire? Or do you just want to share your projects? I don't get that from the website ?

Lol yes I am not sure what I was thinking when I did the navigation, I guess I got too carried away after looking at awwwards and dribbble. I will work on that

Hmmmm this is a very interesting point, So what I aim to achieve is to have a website, where I can share my works, concepts and any crazy idea that comes to mind. I still have so much content to populate the site with, I tend to research and write things down, so I want to use my site as an avenue to share my works. Because I have been told by colleagues that I need to showcase my works and ideas more and also participate in community projects too. That's my goal. I won't mind any advice. Thanks and good to be back.

Nice ? home page nav was a bit confusing for me, eg when clicking on 'About', it scrolled to your About section but the menu disappeared. There was no obvious way to get back to the top of the page. When I scrolled up, the menu had disappeared. Using iMAC with wide screen. Going into phone mode in Chrome dev tools made it a bit easier... Otherwise, well done you!

Thanks Psy , I will work on that

  16. Hi guys, so since I moved to Processwire, it has been my default go-to CMF/CMS for my website and client applications, apparently my previous job took a toll on me, and made me have less time, but now finally had the chance to change my website to something I always had in mind.

I decided to go with something minimal, as I tend to enjoy writing, so wanted a website to have more text than graphics and I think I whipped up something clean. Currently I still have more to do, but this is my current website, the main purpose to have a content driven website where I will be writing tutorials , articles more and hopefully  technical  notes.

Please let me know your honest opinion.

PS: I am more of a coder than a designer but i think this old dog still pulled it off

  17. Processwire API and minimalism is so much lean that it feels like you are still writing PHP compared to other CMS which are overly complex, I think Processwire is easy to use Project with so many things taken care of, especially the fields, It's so much easier to build applications for client easily than other frameworks/cms because Processwire provides so many features that are vital.

  18. have you covered this ?

    Enabling Pagination

    1. Make sure the "Pager" (MarkupPagerNav) module is installed in Admin > Modules. If it's not installed, click the Install link next to it.
    2. Determine what template(s) you want to use pagination with. Go to Admin > Setup > Templates > [Your Template] > URLs, and check the box for: Allow Page Numbers. Save.
    3. Pagination should now be enabled and ready to use in your templates.
